Решил повторить, поскольку были вопросы - вот чего писали на одном из форумов про проблемы факсов НР

Confirmed solution from HP forums:

Go to the Developers menu by...
a) Go to the menu by pressing the "Setup" button - жмем Setup
b) Press and hold the "Up" arrow button - нажимаем и держим стрелку ВВЕРХ
c) While the "Up" button is pressed, press the "Cancel" button. - при НАЖАТОЙ стрелке нажимаем Cancel
d) Release both the buttons - отпускаем обе кнопки
e) Go to the menu again by pressing the "setup" button - жмем Setup
f) See the item "developer's menu" available and Select this option. - видим опцию "developer's menu" и выбираем ее
2) Select Mercury ring by... Выбираем Mercury ring
a) Go to the "R/W parameter" menu item - идем в меню "R/W parameter"
b) Look for "Ring Use Mercury" it's about 105 items away... (P.S. you may press "1" "0" "5" in sequence for quick access) ищем нужный пункт (можно нажать последовательно "1" "0" "5" для быстрого доступа.
c) The default will be "0".
d) Changed this to "1" to activate Mercury Ring detection. - меняем значение
e) Reboot the system - рестартуем аппарат
Единственное не помню - 0 или 1 на самом деле надо.
